Over
the last thirty-five years we have developed expertise in a wide range of
legal areas. Our attorneys continue to develop and pursue new areas through
continuing legal education, in which we participate as both instructors
and students, through bar and other professional activities and through
independent research. |

DIVORCE
AND FAMILY LAW |
| |
Our family law attorneys,
including a Certified Family Law Specialist, counsel and represent individuals
in all aspects of family law, including prenuptial agreements, adoptions,
paternity suits, and marital separations and dissolutions. |
| |
|
| |
- Marital
Separation and Dissolution
|
| |
We represent
spouses in divorce (also referred to as "dissolution of marriage") and
separation proceedings raising issues of child custody, child and
spousal support and property division, including division of real
property and retirement benefits. Our attorneys have extensive
experience working with Ventura County family law counselors,
therapists, lawyers and judges to efficiently resolve custody, support,
property valuation and division, and other divorce-related matters.

Child Custody and Visitation
|
| |
We help parents resolve child custody and visitation issues, both
informally through discussion and mediation, and formally through court
litigation, by focusing on what will be best for the child. Our
attorneys have extensive experience working with Ventura County child
therapists, custody mediators and evaluators, and with family law
attorneys and judges to efficiently resolve your custody issues.
|
| |
|
| |
|
| |
We help parents
resolve child support issues, including obtaining initial child support
orders and modifying existing orders. Our attorneys have extensive
experience with identifying those often over-looked financial factors
which can have a significant effect on the amount of support a parent
has to pay or will receive. We use the same computer program used
by our judges to calculate support.

| |
|
| |
|
| |
Spousal support,
also known as alimony, is simple in concept but complicated in practice.
We help spouses resolve support issues, including obtaining initial
support orders and modifying existing orders. Whether it is
temporary pendente lite support or post-judgment permanent
support, our attorneys have extensive experience with identifying those
often over-looked circumstances and financial factors that can have a
significant effect on the amount of support a spouse has to pay or will
receive, and its duration.
|
| |
|
| |
|
| |
|
| |
We help spouses
achieve a fair division of their marital property in their divorce.
Although each spouse is supposed to receive an equal share of the
marital property, what is marital property and what is "equal"
often fuels extensive, and sometimes expensive, disagreements. Our
attorneys have extensive experience in obtaining fair and equitable
valuation and division of the vast array of marital assets, including
real estate, businesses, stock options, intellectual property, life
insurance, annuities, deferred compensation, and pensions and other
retirement benefits.
|
| |
|
| |
|
| |
We will help you
enforce your family law judgment. Although the court may have
ordered that you are to receive a certain amount of support, or certain
assets as part of the property division, or payment of your attorney's
fees, sometimes collecting on these orders can be difficult and
frustrating. Our attorneys have extensive experience in obtaining
compliance with court orders and obtaining for you what you are due.
|
| |
|
| |
|
| |
We negotiate and
draft prenuptial agreements to address such issues as property
characterization and support.
|
| |
|
| |
|
| |
We represent
parents in actions to establish parentage. Our attorneys have
extensive experience with genetic testing to establish or defend against
paternity, and in resolving the resulting custody, child support, and
attorney's fees and cost issues.
|
| |
|
| |
|
| |
We represent
prospective adoptive parents, and parents who are considering releasing
their child for adoption.
|
| |
|
| |
|
| |
Our attorneys have
extensive experience in obtaining and defending against restraining
orders, including domestic violence, civil harassment, and workplace
harassment.
